Your examination will begin with a relaxed discussion about your vision, lifestyle and any symptoms you may be experiencing. We then carry out a full assessment of your eyesight, including visual clarity checks, eye pressure measurements and a detailed review of your retinal and ocular health. Where clinically appropriate, digital imaging may be used to provide a more in-depth view of your eyes, allowing us to monitor changes over time and detect concerns early. Following your assessment, we update your prescription and offer tailored advice based on your visual needs.
To support early detection and proactive eye care, we offer enhanced diagnostic testing. This includes OCT scanning for detailed cross-sectional images of the eye, visual field assessments that evaluate your peripheral vision, anterior eye imaging and dry-eye screening. These services allow us to provide exceptional levels of clinical insight and ensure nothing is missed.
Advanced eye test is £63
Private eye test without OCT is £45
NHS patients £28 for OCT scan

Eye Examinations FAQ
How long does an eye test take?
Most eye examinations take around 30 to 40 minutes, though this can vary depending on your individual needs and whether any advanced tests are recommended.
Do I need to bring anything?
Bringing your current glasses or contact lenses is helpful, along with any previous prescriptions or hospital letters. This allows us to build a complete picture of your ocular history.
How often should I have my eyes tested?
Most adults are advised to attend every two years, although some patients — including children, contact lens wearers and those with certain medical conditions — may require more frequent reviews.
Is the enhanced eye examination with OCT covered by the NHS?
Enhanced examinations that include OCT are typically a private service and are not covered by the NHS. Your optometrist will let you know if an OCT scan is recommended as part of your appointment and discuss any fees in advance.
Can you help if I need glasses after my exam?
Absolutely! After your eye test, our team will guide you in choosing from our beautiful range of frames and lenses to suit your style and prescription.

What are the signs I might need an eye test sooner?
If you experience headaches, blurry vision, eye strain, difficulty focusing, or notice flashes or floaters, you should book an appointment as soon as possible. Early assessment helps us diagnose issues promptly.
Is parking available?
Yes. We offer free parking at the rear of the practice. Simply ring the bell for entry, and a wheelchair ramp is available on request.
